Last Wednesday night (March 24) gearing up for Toronto Fashion Week, Penicullus Bellum debuted their Fall/Winter 2011 collection at Thrush Holmes Empire. Penicullus Bellum is comprised of two designers – Patricia O’Connor and Claire Warwick who studied at the Academy of Design in Toronto. The tightly edited collection featured structured women’s and men’s jackets in leather and wool. Our favourite styles had wide exaggerated funnel collars in grey and black wool with textured leather back paneling. The monochromatic collection had a rebellious edge with metal hardware and leather detailing that definitely makes a statement. Models were styled in sleek straight hair and shiny dark maroon lips posing atop a series of square pedestals positioned throughout the gallery.
This debut collection from Penicullus Bellum has given us a taste of the design duos talent and particular attention to detail; now we have something to look forward to when the weather gets cold again!
